History
The alternative high school in Fort Morgan was started in the early to mid-1970’s under the direction of Morgan Community College. The school at that time was called “New Beginnings” and was housed in the basement of the old Farmer’s State Bank building on the corner of Main Street and Kiowa.
Fall of 1993, Lincoln High School got its name from the old Lincoln High School building at 900 State Street. Lincoln High School began its time under South Platte BOCES. Lincoln High School remained a part of South Platte BOCES until the Fall of 1997 when it became part of the Morgan County School RE-3 District.
During the 1994-1995 school year it was decided that that school mascot would be the black panther. The “Eye of Reality” newspaper was started, and the “In Your Eyes” yearbook had it first run. The school colors were also determined to be purple and black.
In the 1996-1997 school year marked the First Annual Chili/Soup Supper to raise funds to pay for Graduation expenses.
The 2000-2001 school year showed an increased enthusiasm from the students to become involved within the community and to progress to the community college and the Armed Services after completing their high school educations. This was the first year of the Sherman Head Start and Colorado Preschool Partnership. Students created the partnership as a push for literacy in the younger grades.
The 2006-2007 school year began with a new building, a new focus and a renewed energy towards making Lincoln High School a strong representative with the school district focused on the growth and achievements of those student who may need an alternative education setting.
